Register now for 5k/10k on April 28

Join us for the fifth annual Community Run to support the Costa Mesa students. Festivities begin Friday evening, April 27, with live music and other family activities and continue Saturday, April 28, with a pancake breakfast, 2K fun run, 5K run and, new this year, a 10K run. This is a USTFA sanctioned event open to both competitive and recreational runners.

Proceeds benefit the foundations of Tewinkle Middle School, Costa Mesa Middle School, Estancia High School, Costa Mesa High School and Costa Mesa Community.

2011 wrap-up: Thanks to all participants, sponsors and spectators who made the 2011 Costa Mesa Community Run and Expo, sponsored by IKEA, such a successful event. A record 850 people ran or walked the 5K and 2K fun runs and the event is on target to raise between $10,000 and $15,000.

Estancia graduate Humberto Rojas won the race for the third time in four years, finishing the 5K in 15 minutes 23 seconds.

Cambria Wu of Torrance won the women division in 18:28, seven seconds ahead of runner-up Christine Appell of Huntington Beach.

Rojas and Wu each received a $250 first prize check from IKEA.
